Overview

Catleya Joy Garado (b. 2003) is a Filipino artist based in Quezon City, Philippines. She began drawing at the age of six, initially sketching characters from films and television. Over time, participation in school competitions and oil pastel contests strengthened her commitment to pursuing art more seriously.

In 2020, during the pandemic, she returned to art as a focused practice. That period led her to formally pursue a degree in Fine Arts. She is currently a fourth-year Fine Arts student, continuing to develop her technical and conceptual approach.

Alongside her studies, she undertakes freelance commissions and short-term work while continuing her artistic training.

Her paintings frequently center on emotional states, vulnerability, and personal experience. Floral symbolism appears recurrently in her work, particularly the plumeria (calachuchi), which she uses as a visual motif connected to resilience and femininity.

Today, her practice reflects an ongoing exploration of strength, fragility, and endurance through figurative and symbolic compositions.
