Taiwo Oluwagbenga is a Nigerian artist whose work draws from Yoruba cultural references and contemporary figurative language. His development has been shaped by formal training at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, alongside sustained independent studio work.
From early in his career, he built his technical foundation through disciplined making and material experimentation. Working with limited resources in his formative years informed a resourceful approach to surface, color, and texture that continues to shape his visual direction.
His paintings explore identity, endurance, and shared emotional experience through layered compositions and deliberate chromatic choices. Across recent works, he balances cultural specificity with broader human themes, creating images that are both rooted and widely legible.
Today, Taiwo continues to build an independent trajectory defined by consistency, craft, and a clear commitment to long-term artistic growth.
